A Message from Bil
Over the past eight years I have had the honour to serve you as Ward 7 councillor as we've made great progress in moving Kitchener forward. Together we've taken action to create jobs, secure a more sustainable environment and build a stronger community that works for all of us.
On council I've worked to keep and create good paying jobs here in our community. I've supported the creation of the Kitchener Film/Music media office and promoted the award winning MAKE IT KITCHENER economic strategy, the Waterloo Region Economic Development Corporation plus the Waterloo Region Manufacturing Innovation Network to establish the resources required for businesses to start-up and reach their full potential here in Kitchener.
However, economic development is more than just providing businesses with support, it is about creating a community that people want to stay and live in by investing in a clean environment, arts and culture and a safer community.
If I'm once again honoured by your vote I will continue to support the expansion of public transit, multi-use trails and density nodes that expand the number of walkable communities in our city. And I will continue to support the cities carbon footprint reduction with Sustainable Waterloo Region and that we continue the transition to clean energy. By taking these steps we will lessen congestion, improve our environment and make Kitchener a more attractive place to live and do business.
I will stay focused on respecting your hard earned tax dollars and work to keep more money in your pocket by continuing to oppose budgets that expand beyond the average rate of inflation. And I will work to establish more public-private partnerships to minimize the residential tax burden.
In Ward 7 we'll keep working together to calm traffic with passive traffic calming tools, fight back against vandalism and continue to advocate the expansion of the Forest Heights Community Centre to include a seniors facility. And we'll work to ensure that the Highland Road expansion has a minimal impact on residents and businesses alike.
Though we have accomplished a great deal, there is more to be done. That's why I'm asking for your support in sending me back to City Hall so we can continue to build a stronger Kitchener for all of us.
